At Avissa Skin, we are able to provide our clients with the gorgeous skin that they’ve always desired and envied, using the incredibly diverse line of medical grade peels and treatments by Vi Peel, ZO Skin Health, Glytone, with special formulation for the face, back, and the delicate areas around the eyes and lips.

A chemical peel is a non-surgical technique used to transform the texture of the skin.

Because our facial skin, neck, and hands are most often exposed to UV rays and day-to-day wear and tear, these areas typically begin to exhibit the visible signs of aging before other parts of the body.  Chemical peel treatments at Avissa Skin  are an effective way to rejuvenate the complexion and restore the vitality of fresh, young-looking skin.

During a chemical peel, a topical chemical solution is applied to the treatment area that exfoliates the uppermost layers of the skin. As a result of this process, the skin’s natural renewal process is triggered, causing a boost in collagen and elastin production. Furthermore, as the surface layer of the skin is gently exfoliated away, skin abnormalities are reduced, revealing the fresh and healthy skin underneath.

Specializing in results, our treatments are all personalized for your optimal outcome. Whether you’re targeting a specific skin condition, or just looking to improve your overall skin health.

What is a peel and how does it benefit my skin?
A peel is the process of applying a solution to the treatment area for a few minutes, and then neutralizing it with a solution. You may experience a tingling sensation, slight stinging and mild redness that may last for several minutes. The immediate result is softer, smoother skin. A series of peels, used over weeks or months, along with a daily skin care regimen, sloughs away the top layer of dead skin cells to reveal fresher, healthier looking skin.

How soon will I notice results? How long does the program last?
You will feel an improvement in the softness of your skin in as little as 1 week. As the treatment progresses, you will notice a difference in the overall appearance of your skin. The peel program generally consists of a series of peels given every 2-4 weeks. The length of the program and frequency of visits, however, will be determined by you and the skin specialist. The at-home regimen provides daily exfoliation and maximizes the benefits of your peels. Keep in mind that it will take several months of treatment before you see the optimal skin rejuvenation benefits.

Are the at-home skin care products effective without the peels?
Yes, the at-home skincare products can be effective without the peels. Keep in mind, though, that using the at-home products together with a peel regimen will deliver the best results at a much quicker rate.

Who is a candidate for the chemical peel?
During the consultation, your medical history will be reviewed and you will be prescribed the treatment that best meets your needs. Let us know if you have experienced any of the following: active herpes simplex (cold sores), psoriasis, eczema, rosacea, recent surgeries, a bad sunburn, hypertrophic or keloidal scarring or used Accutane. It’s also important to tell us if you sunbathe, use a sun-tanning booth, smoke, are pregnant or nursing, or are a vegetarian.

Can men or younger adults benefit from chemical peels?
Yes! Chemical peels provide the same exfoliation benefits for men as for women, including helping to slough away dead skin cells to reveal healthier skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Glycolic acid also helps minimize razor bumps. For teens with acne-prone skin, chemical peels help eliminate oil and reduce the further breakout of acne.

Are chemical peels safe?
Yes. Dermatologist have been performing chemical peels for more than 50 years with an excellent safety record.

Is there downtime?
Depending upon which solution we agree upon, there can be absolutely no downtime! For someone looking for a brightening glow for the weekend, a light, refreshing peel is perfect!

Is it painful?
People typically find getting a chemical peel quite relaxing. Imagine laying down, eyes closed and having your face attended to and pampered. There is some minimal discomfort when the solution is applied, but this typically only lasts for a few minutes.
