WHAT ARE REJUVENATING PDO THREADS?
PDO threads are made up of a material called polydioxanone. This is an absorbable, flexible material that is as thin as a few hairs. This type of material has been used in Cardiac and Pediatric surgery for at least 50 years with an excellent safety profile.
When inserted into the subcutaneous tissues of the skin, it creates an intensive collagen stimulation that produces visible and long lasting tightening of the skin.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After receiving a topical anaesthetic, PDO Threads will be inserted using a micro-needle or cannula. The treatment is a highly customized procedure and your practintioner will work closely with you in order to achieve optimal results.
You will begin to see results in 6 weeks which continue to improve over the next 2 to 6 months as new collagen is produced. Although the PDO Threads will slowly dissolve, you will continue to see results for up to 12 months.
Mono Threads help to create new collagen that supports your face and creates a tightening effect that lasts 6–12 months after your treatment.
The results vary depending on lifestyle factors such as smoking, alcohol, exercise, etc. It may be recommended to have another PDO Thread treatment six months after the initial treatment to maintain the tightening effects.
The time of your treatment will vary based on many factors—such as the size of your treatment area — but typically takes between 45 and 60 minutes.
Mono Thread treatments may produce swelling and bruising in the area that has been treated, which will subside after a few days.
You may not be a good candidate if you are pregnant or breast feeding, have an active infection in the area to be treated, or have an allergy to lidocaine. Your aesthetic nurse injector will thoroughly review your health history and contraindications with you prior to treatment.
PRE TREATMENT CARE
Avoid Alcohol and smoking. Schedule procedure at least one week prior to a special occasion or event. Avoid taking anti-inflammatory medication (consult Doctor prior, if necessary). Avoid treatment if you have active infections in the treatment area
POST TREATMENT CARE
Mild bruising and swelling is to be expected and will resolve in a few days. Ice may be applied to soothe area of treatment. Most clients find they can return to work the following day without any concern, however, we advise to avoid any important events for up to 2 weeks to allow any bruising or swelling to subside. Discomfort may last longer in some individuals and those who have multiple threads placed at once. We advise a soft diet and limiting the degree of mouth opening until these feelings of discomfort have subsided. Avoid exaggerated facial movements like chewing or yawning for two weeks. No dental surgery for four weeks. It is important not to touch your face or manipulate the threads at all. Do not apply oil-based moisturizer or makeup for the next 24 hours. When applying makeup over the next five days, do so gently in the treated area. As PDO threads are “heat sensitive” we do not recommend any heat-based treatments such as radiofrequency for 6-8 weeks. Aftercare is advised including avoidance of facial procedures, heavy exercise and sleeping on your sides or stomach. Sleep on your back and elevate your head for the first three nights. Full aftercare instructions will be provided following the treatment in order to minimize potential side effects and maximize the results in your individual case. A review appointment may be scheduled for 8 weeks post-treatment at which further treatment (either more threads or an alternative treatment such as dermal fillers) may be required to achieve the desired outcome.
