BODY WAXING
Avissa Skin offers Full Body Waxing from Head to Toe for both Women and Men. Waxing is an intimate experience, but one that is gratifying to many.  At Avissa Skin , we want your experience to not only be the absolute best, but for you to achieve results.  It is recommended that you come in every 4-6 weeks. Doing this will allow your skin to adapt to waxing, slow down your hair growth, and maintain better results between treatments.

We have been using a Milk Chocolate Creme Wax, formulated with Cocoa Seed Extract and is great for sensitive skin for the past 20+ years! Our clients love it!

At Avissa Skin, all instruments are sanitized and we enforce a strict “no double dipping” policy, meaning that we never dip the same applicator in the pot of wax once it has been used.

INGROWN HAIR TREATMENT

BODY WAXING FOR HIM

What is a Brazilian bikini wax?
A Brazilian wax is the complete removal of the hair on the pubic region, the labia, and the butt crack. You do have the option, however, of either going completely bare or leaving a small landing strip or triangle of hair above the vaginal area.

What is the difference between a bikini and an extended bikini wax?
A Bikini wax is the removal of hair 2″ from the sides and 1″ off the top of a modest panty line. An Extended Bikini Wax is anything more than that excluding the labia and between the buttocks. Note that hair removed from the inner thigh will be charged as such.

How long does my hair need to be to wax?
We require that you have between 2 to 3 weeks of hair growth for the best results. Honestly, the longer the better for your first wax. It is EXTREMELY important to have enough hair growth when you come for your appointment. This allows the wax to grab the hairs easily. If your hair is too short to wax, you may need to reschedule your appointment. Please understand that if you choose to go ahead with the service that some hair may be left behind and we don’t tweeze.

Does Avissa double dip?
The health and safety of our clients is our number one priority. We are setting the highest examples and standards of salons and spas in the industry here at Avissa. Our waxing sticks are dipped into the wax once, applied once, and then discarded.

Do I have to be naked?
No, not completely. We will need you to undress from the waist down, including your underwear. I know it can be a little nerve wracking for you but please remember; we do these EVERY day ALL day. We do our very best to put you at ease, so please don’t feel embarrassed. It will be over before you know it.

I have my period! Do I need to cancel?
It is recommended that you schedule your appointment 2,3 days after your cycle.

How often should I wax?
The average is every 4 weeks. That estimate holds true for everything: brows to Brazilian to underarms. Because our hormones dictate our hair growth, some clients may experience slower or faster rates of growth. We can schedule accordingly.

What kind of wax do you use?
We use a Milk Chocolate Crème Wax which is formulated with Cocoa Seed Extract that acts as an anti-inflammatory agent. This wax is great for sensitive skin and the luscious chocolate aroma creates an aromatic waxing experience. We love it!

Does waxing cause ingrown hairs?
Possibly. Some people get ingrown hairs no matter what method of hair removal they choose. Exfoliating daily and using an ingrown eliminator will help keep ingrown hairs away. Ask your service provider for product recommendation.

Will I be absolutely smooth after my first wax?
It’s possible but not likely. It is common that after the first wax or two you may feel a bit of stubble. This occurs most frequently with clients that have thick, dark and coarse hair. Leg waxing is the most common area that this happens with. Because your body has three different hair cycles, each lasting approx. 4-6 weeks it is important to wax consistently every 4 weeks the first three to four times you wax so that you can get each hair cycle on its own waxing schedule. After the third or fourth wax you will find you are smoother for a greater length of time than when you started the waxing process. Everyone’s body is different and therefore will have a different experience.

Will it make my hair grow back darker and thicker?
Not at all! If you think about it, when you shave you are cutting the hair off at midshaft, which is the fattest part of the hair. So when it grows back it appears as though it’s thicker and darker but it’s not. When you wax, the hair is removed at the root and therefore a new hair will grow from that follicle. Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles or change the pigment of the hair. In fact, if you get your wax done regularly, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as coarse.

How much does a Brazilian hurt?
I’ m not going to lie. It’s not fun, but it’s nothing you can’t handle. It’s quick and any pain experienced diminishes in minutes. It’s like a band aid being ripped off. The anticipation is the worst part. The average Brazilian wax takes between 20 and 30 minutes. It depends on how much hair the client has to remove. The next thing you know you will be saying, “That wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be”.

What if I have a really low pain tolerance?
We suggest taking a mild pain 30 minutes before your appointment. This can help to lessen any pain you may experience during your services.

How long does it take to do a Brazilian?
It all depends on the client. Usually 20-45 minutes. The first time is the longest, and then the monthly maintenance is much faster.

Why should I wax?
Waxed hair grows back smooth and fine, unlike the stubble that grows back when you shave. Each time you wax, the hair follicle weakens and can eventually die, leaving you with less hair. Waxing also lasts significantly longer than other hair removal methods.

Anything else I should know about waxing?
You should refrain from using waxing as a hair-removal method if you are using Retin-A (currently or in the last 3 months), Isotretinoin (currently or in the past 4 months), other keratolytic medications (that increase skin exfoliation), or are sunburned or recovering from a recent laser or chemical peel. Also, if you have received Botox, dermal fillers or any other injectable less than 72 hours prior to waxing please let your service provider know.

Before Your Treatment:

          • Let your service provider know if you have never been waxed before. Be aware and ask questions.
          • We cannot wax anyone that has an active Herpes outbreak, sunburn, or that has had a chemical peel, microdermabrasion, laser or IPL within the past 7 days.
          • Clients must wait at least 6 months after the completion of Accutane medication to receive any waxing services.
          • Please review your current medications, many thin the skin, and can cause skin to lift during waxing.
          • Personal hygiene rules! Please bath and or freshen up before your Brazilian, bikini or body wax treatment. Ladies, if it is that time of the month please allow 2-3 days after your cycle is completed to book.
          • Do not apply self-tanners, body sprays, deodorants and other topical creams before your appointment.
          • Body hair length! Hair needs to be ¼ of an inch (a grain of rice) no more – no less! If you’ve been shaving, allow a minimum of 3 weeks of hair growth. If the hair is too short it won’t adhere to the wax and if it is too long it will pull much more causing more pain.
          • Schedule your wax 2-3 days before beach and poolside jaunts if you plan to sun bathe.
          • Avoid heat!  No tanning beds, hot tubs and saunas before your appointment.
          • Exfoliating the area GENTLY 24 hours before your appointment will remove the dead skin cells and allow for a cleaner wax.
          • Be comfy! Wear loose comfortable breathable clothing to prevent irritation after waxing.

After Your Treatment:

          • Everyone reacts differently to waxing.  If this is your first time, it is important to take precaution.
          • Sensitivity, redness, & small bumps may be experienced in the area waxed for the next 24-48 hours.
          • Apply a cold compress to sooth the skin if you experience sensitivity or irritation after your treatment.
          • Hydrocortisone cream also reduces the redness and irritation following your treatment.
          • Avoid heat.  No tanning, sun bathing, hot tubs or saunas for 48 hours after your treatment.  Since a layer of dead skin cells have been removed, sun and or heat exposure can burn the skin and also allow bacteria to enter the pore.
          • Refrain from taking a hot bath or exercising for 24 hours following your treatment.
          • Exfoliate at least once a week to prevent ingrown hairs.
          • If your skin is sensitive, waxing may result in minor breakouts or rashes. Waxing causes the temporary enlargement of the hair follicles that can allow bacteria residing on the skin, to enter the enlarged follicles and cause skin infections. If an infection is noted, it should be evaluated and treated as soon as possible. That is why it is important to take proper care of your skin following a wax treatment.
