Because PRF treatments essentially use your own blood concentrate, these treatments are extremely safe. As no foreign substances are being injected into your body, there is no risk of an allergic reaction. PRF treatments typically take approximately 60 minutes. 15-30 cc of blood will be drawn from your arm and then spun in a centrifuge. Be sure to drink lots of water before the appointment so we can get a good volume of blood. We prefer not to apply a topical anesthetic. We have some evidence to say that anesthetics can decrease the effectiveness of PRF treatments. However if you prefer to have a topical anesthetic, it can be applied with an understanding that it may affect your results. Once extracted, the concentrate is injected into targeted areas with a fine needle (or cannula) or topically applied during other aesthetic procedures (i.e. Microneedling). The results of your treatment and when you’ll see them are dependent on the area being treated and whether it was injected directly or topically applied. In general you can expect to see results approximately 2-3 weeks following your treatment, and a notable difference around the 4-6 week mark. Your skin will continue to improve over the weeks and months following your treatment.
